Description of formats

JPEG
(Joint Photographic Expert Group Image File)
The raster image format uses a lossy compression process. The output image is a trade-off between storage size and image quality. The image quality degrades less when the compression is 10:1. The higher the compression, the more the image quality is degraded.
STL
(Stereolithography)
STL has several backronyms such as "Standard Triangle Language" and "Standard Tessellation Language".
Most popular file format for 3D printing, rapid prototyping, and computer-aided manufacturing.
Each file is a series of linked triangles that describe the surface geometry of a 3D model or object. The more complex the design, the more triangles used, and the higher the resolution.
STL supports by many software packages. STL files describe only the surface geometry of a 3D object without any representation of color, texture, or other common CAD model attributes. The STL format specifies both binary and ASCII representations. Binary files are more common since they are more compact.
CAD
CAD is software technology used for creating, editing, and analyzing digital designs and models of objects or structures. It is widely employed in architecture, engineering, and manufacturing to enhance design precision, efficiency, and collaboration among professionals.
3Dprinting
3D printing, also known as additive manufacturing, is a process of creating three-dimensional objects from digital design files. It involves layering material, such as plastic, metal, or resin, one thin layer at a time to build the final object. 3D printing is used in various industries, including manufacturing, healthcare, aerospace, automotive, and consumer goods, for rapid prototyping, custom part production, and creating complex and customized objects.
